  • @thekarladam I agree with Ed. ObjC is not an example of a “txt book” good language. Neither is PHP, but man both get a shitload of work done #
  • Sitting at home trying to decide whether to clean (badly needed) or go to Maker’s Faire. As awesome as MF, cleaning feels oddly appealing.  #
  • Just learned of the morning news in my hometown today. What a fucked up world we live in. Why does radicalism seem so prevalent these days? #
  • Not sure why, but I object at an unnatural fundamental level to prog languages whose syntax uses “def” instead of something like “function” #
  • @thekarladam My comparison is valid. Neither lang has a pure “academically clean” grammar / consistency, but they get shit done. Suck it. :P in reply to thekarladam #
  • @koblas Which language are you referring to specifically? There are a couple which use “def” lately, seems to be a growing trend sadly. in reply to koblas #
  • Noticed that most of the languages using “def” that I have looked at lately are JVM based alternatives to coding Java. Coincidence or … ? #
  • @mdhughes Depends on your definition of “function”. Function implies a lot more semantic meaning to all three contexts than “def” does, IMHO in reply to mdhughes #
  • @mdhughes procedures and methods could easily be considered specialized functions. Proc = func w/o ret, method = func inside obj/class scope in reply to mdhughes #
  • @mdhughes Bringing PHP into a convo about lang design/concepts is about like bringing up motor oil in the context of a convo on fine dining in reply to mdhughes #
  • @mdhughes Comparisons between the 3 terms is a bit lacking on teh web, but I’ve found several to support my POV, including in reply to mdhughes #
  • Awesome video I made of a glow stick performer at DJ Tiësto’s concert last night in Sacramento: #
  • @pixelarchitect Feeling _insanely_ left out dude. :( in reply to pixelarchitect #
