EcoBalls — Are they for real?

May 11th, 2008 -- Posted in General, Product Plugs, Reviews

While in London last weekend I stumbled across an interesting called . They are these UFOish shaped balls with pellets inside. Not hearing of them before and being skeptical, I decided to hold off buying them, especially at £35.

Doing a bit of research online, I’ve found mixed information. The majority of the skeptics I have seen arguing against them seem to focus on the gimicky nature of the product description and/or inaccurately point to debunk stories on “similar” products. I use the term “similar” like I do because I really feel that after researching it, are a bit different than many of the products out there like it. (more…)

I’ve found the only way I can really be honest on them anymore is to go through the test rapidly and try to avoid thinking about the question and just go with my first gut reaction. Prompted by Terry’s post, I decided to take a couple profiles today and see if there was any change, which somehow not surprisingly there was. (more…)

United States replacing one form of terrorism in the sky with another?

As many who follow my feed know, I went to SXSW this past weekend flying to Austin, TX on US Airways. Also as evidenced by my from these past couple days, I’ve had a bit of a run in with the TSA. On my departure flight to Phoenix from San Jose, in the process of inspecting my checked luggage, the TSA completely ripped apart both my checked bags. One was filled with clothes, and while annoying to have everything wrinkled and tossed about, that was of little concern really. The other bag, though, was filled with moderately expensive camera gear packed in a form fitting Pelican case. It appeared as if someone had flipped the bag upside down, then picked everything up and just cramped it back in, completely disregarding how it was placed originally. In the process, foam was crushed and torn and gear was lightly damaged. I of course was extremely angry, but I calmed down and felt it was an isolated incident of an extremely poor employee. (more…)
